Catena is a modular system of four geometrical structures made in rammed earth, connected by a single pin.

A modular system
Their clear geometry emphasizes the properties of the material: its compacted density, subtle layers, and granular texture. The elements can be arranged into sculptural compositions, furniture bases, or functional building components.
Each module weighs around 12 kilograms and is composed entirely of raw earth. The pieces are solid, tactile, and easy to handle, allowing them to be lifted, rotated, and reassembled into different configurations.
Made on site
Catena is produced directly on-site using local soil and a mobile hydraulic press. This flexible production process makes it possible to work anywhere, adapting the composition and color of the earth to its surroundings.
The result is always specific to its place of origin, each piece carrying the identity of the ground it comes from.

Reuse and circularity
The system can serve as the foundation for interior elements, spatial dividers, pedestals, or larger constructions. Its modular logic encourages both experimentation and reuse.
Catena follows the OpenStructures Design Principles of circularity and modularity and is a happy part of the OpenStructures_Grid.
